An Amazing "Youth" Dove Hunt Today!

For a number of years I have hunted the Sangchris Dove Field during the first five days and again throughout the season and have done very well. Well today was a bust with probably less than a couple dozen dove taken total by all the hunters who showed up.
I showed up at 1 PM and went out to my stake and had already seen and talked with several people I have encountered over the years. And while we have youth hunts for ducks, geese and deer there really isn't one for dove. However this hasn't stopped this Father and Son duo from coming out once again this season today! Around 2:30 or so, here comes Silvio down the edge of the sunflowers on his way to the stake next to mine. He was carving his way through the sunflower stalk stubble while his son parked the truck and followed up behind with most of the gear. You see, Silvio is 87 years young this year and his son is 63. And the two of them have been hunting out at the Sangchris Dove Fields for some time. Nowadays the Father is a little slower and walks with a cane and his son carries most of the gear and I have yet to hear a harsh word spoken between them. So my hat is off the two of them and I hope to see them next year and beyond.
God's speed you two!
